Great Black Inventor, Lewis Latimer

Lewis Latimer was the 19th Century inventor who worked with some of the most renown inventors of his time, Thomas Edison, Hiram Maxim, and Alexander Graham Bell. He invented the filament that keeps the light bulb on. He designed the draft of the telephone. He invented the "water closet" also known as the bathroom on a railroad car. He was one of the greatest African American inventors of our time. He was also an artists, writer, and humanitarian. Cultural Caravan takes you to the home of Lewis Latimer, which was preserved due to the efforts of his only surviving relatlve, Winifred Latimer Norman, This is a gem for all who appreciate African American history.
